Interested in what's going on in 3D printing? Interested in getting to know DELRAY Systems and what's going on here? Well then you're in the right spot! This blog is where we will take the time to share with you what's happening with 3D printing, 3D scanning, and what is going on here at DELRAY Systems. We are so excited to start this journey with you guys!
Let's start by getting to know what 3D printing is, for those of you who might not know. 3D printing is when you make (print) a physical 3D object from a 3D digital model by using many horizontal layers of material on top of each other to build a 3 dimensional form. How is 3D printing most commonly used? We all know the traditional way to prototype: a design is made up, sent out to a factory, and then machined using a number of techniques all of which being expensive and time consuming. Since a lot of companies don’t have the machinery to produce a prototype on site it can take weeks to get a result, and then it may not be the result that was needed and the process goes over again. The idea behind a 3D printer is to drastically shorten that process and make it much cheaper, and easier, to manufacture. A model is designed then sent to your on site 3D printer, instead of being sent out to a factory. That saves time and money on transportation back and forth from another location. The model will be printed in horizontally sliced segments created by the program given the file uploaded. In the case of the Ultimaker printers, the program Cura is completely free and can be downloaded off of the Ultimaker website. In Cura you have all sorts of options to subtly tweak how the print will come out just in case it isn’t quite right on the first try. Cura will even tell you exactly how much material is going to be used, specifying even how much of each material if more than one is being used, and how long the print will take. Prints can take a few hours to a day or two depending on the size of your print. In the end, you’ll get a fully functioning prototype at a fraction of the time and cost. Now that we’ve explained one of the most common ways printers are used, here’s a little insight into a few of the products we offer here at DELRAY Systems. The Ultimaker 3D printers: Our Ultimaker 3D printers all have so much to offer! The Ultimaker S5 is the newest printer from Ultimaker, offering the very best ultimaker has to offer. We also offer the Ultimaker 2+ and Ultimaker 3. Every printer has its own advantages. One cool thing about these printers is that they have an open filament system, which means that you can use any filament you want. The Ultimaker brand has chemically resistant, flame resistant, lightweight materials that are bound to please. Some of the materials we offer include PLA, ABS, Nylon, CPE, PC, and TPU 95A but there are so many more! Looking for a more durable material? The Ultimaker S5 has a more advanced filament feeder mechanism so it can handle the more abrasive materials like glass filled nylon or glass filled polypropylene. The Ultimaker S5 and Ultimaker 3 boasts Wi-fi, Ethernet and USB connectivity making printing even quicker and more convenient. We also offer BigRep 3D printers: A bigger 3D printer for bigger jobs! With the BigRep One boasting a 1 cubic meter of print room, it has more than enough room to make your larger 3D printing dreams come true. The BigRep printers are the ideal for both the office and industrial environment. It offers a choice between single or dual extrusion configuration enabling printing with different filaments, helping in the printing of complex parts that need support material or two different colors. BigRep has a user friendly graphical interface that offers great tools to monitor prints and help ensure good, quality prints. We also offer many high quality filaments for BigRep printers. We also offer EinScan 3D scanners! 3D scanners let you take 3D pictures of any object. It takes photos of the object from every side until you have a 3D image of it, you can then take the 3D image of your object and put it into your favorite 3D printing software, fix it up, change things if you’d like and 3D print out a copy! Here at DELRAY Systems we have many amazing products that we offer, and everyone is guaranteed awesome customer service. Feel free to browse our website while you are here! Feel free to call us with any questions you may have, or if you would like to place an order!
